Refinement

After 4 years, we continue to make improvements to the property. The house needed a bath and the tiger wood needed to be sealed again. The sun has taken its toll on the wood.

We added some gravel to the front drive and some pine bark mulch to create a more finished look to the front. It deserved that!

So far, the only problems we have had with the house were due to some faulty work by the plumber – which our builder promptly addressed, and the doors we thought would be a problem for the rest of our lives turned out to be fixable by my brilliant husband. Yes, the expert who came to fix the door could not change anything, but Landus simply dismantled, cleaned, and lubricated the inner workings of the latches and corrected the door handle installation. Now the one problem I had with the house is gone!

It is amazing to live somewhere where A) you have no complaints, B) you have beautiful sunrises and sunsets almost daily, and C) your power bills are around $100/mo or less.

We’ve taken down a LOT of trees, we’ve planted grass, and trees, and poured concrete steps, and a fire pit area. Landus also fenced in the entire property so our dogs can run free. Their happiness also brings us great joy.

I’ve turned 60, Landus is close to the Beatles year (’64) and I’ve lost both of my parents over the past three years. My family has established an LLC to represent my father’s artwork and we were able to scatter our parents’ ashes together on the Blue Ridge Parkway as they requested.

The house is our home. The dogs are able to come and go from inside so it is beginning to lose some of the “NEW” aspects, but it is still beautiful.
