Rainy, cold and down to the details.

That’s our boat under water. Usually, it sits on its side leaning up against a tree completely out of the water. Looks like the lake is up 3 – 4′. This is how much rain we have had.

Everything is damp and the colder it becomes, the more we need the power and heat to be turned on.

The siding has been completed and the door installed!

You can see the vertical tiger wood. The concrete steps have stonework up under them and you can see the wires where the lighting will go.

Exterior siding is complete. The Bray Construction crew took advantage of every nice day they had and focused on completing the outside when they could.

Inside, they have primed all the walls and continue to seal the wood. They also have completed our trim-less pocket doors.  I will have to write an entry on this element alone. It is so cool!

Flooring is now out of our barn and in the house acclimating. Sadly, the wood gained moisture and the subfloor was still at 17% moisture content.  The crew threw everything at it. We have two dehumidifiers and 5 fans drying out the crawl space.

We passed inspection for power and Jackson EMC has marked the line for the power to run to the house. The truck running the power line has just arrived so we hope by next week we will have power and the HVAC can be installed.

Our flooring installer has been sick. We hope when he is feeling better he can get started but we don’t want to rush this part. We are well aware of the need for the wood to go down in a conditioned space. We don’t want gaps in the flooring after it is installed, but wood moves and we have to be prepared for this in general. I’m sure a heated house would be appreciated by all.

Our cabinetry is being produced by the impressive craftsmen at Design Woodwork here in Madison County, GA. Owner Pat Quinn has designed a beautiful cabinet using the white oak we provided to him. He’s incorporated a walnut pull that flows with the grain on the drawers. I can’t wait to show you these installed. They are so handsome.

I know there will be more to report soon, so I will end this entry now and try to stay on top of things as they happen!
